SOS MENTAL HEALTH CRISIS and SURVIVAL

  SOS MENTAL HEALTH CRISIS and SURVIVAL

Please note this is my personal thoughts and feelings on how i deal with life

after a breakdown/depression.

If you are suffering for the 1st time with depression seek medical help!

DO NOT SELF MEDICATE WITH DRUGS AND ALCOHOL!
 Number 1 Discovery
 Doctors and psychologists only seem to treat the CHEMICAL IMBALANCE!

YOU NEED TO SEARCH FOR THE SOLUTIONS TO YOUR OWN LIFE

THEY ARE WITHIN YOU!

When coming through a crisis or breakdown that is you mind and body telling you to STOP
STOP whatever your doing FOCUS on YOURSELF!
FORGET WORK and "non essential commitments"!

The most important thing is getting yourself well
You need to RETHINK YOUR LIFE!
 Think of the things that led you to become ill!

 Think about changing behaviour,

YOUR MIND HAS THE POWER TO CHANGE!
 ITS IN THE HUMAN SPIRIT TO CHANGE ADAPT AND FIND SOLUTIONS
 THAT CREATIVE POWER IS IN ALL OF US! ITS HOW WE HAVE EVOLVED INTO WHAT WE ARE
TODAY (THE HUMAN RACE)!

The secret to happiness?
Strip everything in your mind away for a moment,
If you were on a desert island and had water and food
what would you need to survive! No man or woman  is an island!
(FOCUS ON WHAT YOU HAVE NOW, TRY NOT TO PURSUE THINGS BECAUSE OF EXPENSIVE
BRAND NAMES)
Maslow's hierarchy of needs tells us that our BASIC NEEDS are food, water, shelter!
then we look to company/ fellow people/humans.
then we look at establishing ourself in a group
then once we have achieved our goals we become self actualised

If we are lucky to have good family support then your halfway there
we need good supportive friends
Any friend that puts you down consider what benefit they are to your life!

So hopefully we have good family and friends?

Steps to progress!

REMEMBER A TIME WHEN YOU WERE HAPPY, IT COULD BE YEARS AGO!
TRY AND DISCOVER WHO YOU ARE, WHAT MAKES YOU……..YOU!

Music creating music, positive work, the internet, social media, talking to people,

 films the outdoors the beach are mine!

TRY AND PERSUE A HOBBY OR INTEREST THAT YOU LOVE!

 It could be a group thing or a solo pursuit it doesn't matter what it is!
(legal of course)

Find things that make you laugh! Comedies YOU TUBE, films, programmes, any thing on TV

with a negative/ depressing subject matter AVOID WHILE IN RECOVERY

create something, remember when you was a child what did you enjoy(hopefully you had a good childhood)

plastacine lego etc drawing needle work cooking etc,

WHAT CARTOONS/TV PROGRAMMES DO/DID YOU LIKE
THAT YOU USED TO LOVE!(when a child)

set a goal to achieve! Think! and make steps of how to achieve it! (whats acheivable VISUALISE IT)

Films to watch
shawshank redemption
rocky (metafor for survival for life)

List your favourite, films, music, art, list all the things that are import to you that make YOU …..YOU!
keep the list to yourself!

Every day is a new day, yesterday is gone you can change the past

This is the BEST THING IVE LEARNED!

Its for people with addition problems but its helped me a lot (I never have had addition problems)

SERENITY PRAYER
(believer in GOD/HIGHER POWER VERSION)
God/higher power  grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
enjoying one moment at a time;
accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
that I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
forever in the next. Amen

SERENITY PRAYER
NON BELIVER VERSION
Grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
enjoying one moment at a time;
accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;

Every Day is a new day, savour every simple good thing
from your first cup of tea in the morning
feel and sense everything, monitor how you are/feel

do things that make you happy

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"LIVE IN THE MOMENT"! Enjoy the sun ( the ENVIRONMENT, THE OUTDOORS)
Enjoy THE RAIN your indoors in the warm(hopefully)

Take time our for YOURSELF, DO THINGS THAT MAKE YOU HAPPY!,

ON YOU OWN OR WITH WITH GOOD FRIENDS AND FAMILY,
TELL THEM THAT YOU LOVE THEM
HELP OTHER PEOPLE, TRY AND DO SOME GOOD WHEREVER POSSIBLE EVERY DAY!

THE SMALLEST THINGS MAKE A DIFFERENCE TO SOMEONE WHO NEEDS HELP!

GIVE OF YOURSELF, EXPECT NOTHING BACK!

GO OUTDOORS AS MUCH AS POSSBLE, WALK TO THE SHOPS, BEACH,

WALK AROUND TOWN
HAVE A COFFEE/ TEA OR MEAL ON YOUR OWN OR WITH FRIENDS AND FAMILY

THE IMPORTANCE OF WORK (NOT A JOB)

Whatever you DO to earn a living enjoy it, if not search for what you would do if you didnt need money?

and DO IT!
If you love what you do you WILL NEVER WORK AGAIN!
Also try and find something for to do around the house, garage or shed

WORK GIVES YOU REWARD FEELINGS AND NATURAL

CHEMICALS GET RELEASED(with physical work)

So thats just a few tips to help you on your road to recovery

YOU ARE THE DRIVER OF YOUR OWN LIFE,YOU HAVE ONE LIFE!
 LIVE IT!
